The Faces of Trump Protesters

The 1st Amendment states: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." (The Constitution of the United States of America)

On Friday, March 11th, 2016, Donald Trump and his supporters were to congregate at the University of Illinois - Chicago at the Pavilion. Everybody that was in the crowd protesting the appearance of Donald Trump was extremely peaceful, polite, smiling, and chanting with one another. It wasn’t until after Trump decided to cancel his rally when the tension started to take place.

Thank you to the Chicago Police Department for risking your safety to keep us safe, when some people wanted the protesters to be anything but safe.

Thank you to everyone who came out to protest, our voices were heard.

Thank you to everyone who supported the protesters, the love was felt.

These are the faces of my fellow Chicagoans; friends, family, neighbors, classmates, colleagues, and strangers. We are one and unafraid; together we stand strong.
